Thanks to Ella Melvin Winsbro of Tennessee for her comments which follow in regards to the coat of arms image.

There is no such thing as a 'family' crest or coat of arms. A Coat of Arms was granted by the king or queen to one single person from a certain surname. To have the right to use that coat of arms or crest, you must be the oldest son of that person or the oldest son of the oldest son, and so on down the line. It had to be documented very carefully or it was not authentic. [See RootsWeb's "Guide to Tracing Family Trees, " Lesson 19.]

I have not traced the ancestry of anyone in my family to one which has the right to these arms so the display here is only for information and decoration. Rich Pettit - owner of this site.
