The marriage of Miss Patricia Melvin,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Melvin, of 220 Clinton Street,
Hempstead, to Lewis Pettit, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pettit, of 23
Pierson Avenue, Hempstead, took place Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. Joseph’s
Roman Catholic Church, Garden City. The Rev. Joseph Kennedy officiated. A
reception followed at the Hempstead Elks clubhouse.
The bride wore a gown of white Chantilly
lace over satin with a fingertip-length tulle veil secured to a matching
headdress with clusters of roses on each side. Her bouquet was of white
roses.
Miss Jean Anne Pettit, sister of the
bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of melon nylon net over
taffeta with a matching headdress and carried |
a bouquet of talisman roses.
Charles Melvin, brother of the bride, was
best man. The ushers were Bernard Melvin, another brother, Frank Gorman of
Masesapequa Park, and Alfred Popielarski of Hempstead.
Mrs. Pettit is a graduate of St. Joseph’s
School, Garden City, St. Agnes’ Academy, Rockville Centre, and Adelphi
College; and also attended Marymount College, She is a member of Kappa
Kappa Gamma sorority, and is now teaching at Stratford School, Garden
City. Mr. Pettit is a graduate of Hempstead High School, Hofstra College,
and Farmingdale Technical Institute. He is an Air Force veteran, and is
employed as chemist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. |
